On Tuesday 25th March 2008 while on holiday in England the Deputy Mayor of Marsa Mr Dominic Spencer, his wife Claudette and their children 8year old Nigel and 4-month-old Shania visited Bridgwater.
This was the first visit for the rest of the family. They stayed with members of the Association and during their visit there was the unveiling of the road name dedicated to the twinning between our two towns -Marsa Way.
Bridgwater Town Council had put the name forward and it had been chosen.
Attending the ceremony also were the Mayor and Mayoress of Bridgwater Philip and Ute Smeed, the Deputy Mayor and Mayoress Graham and Kay Granter. Bridgwater’s Mace Bearer Chris Hocking, members of the council and their wives who have visited Malta and been involved with the Twinning. Association members- recognised by their black logos on their shirts and local residents.
After a short speech the unveiling took place and we were invited back to the Mayor’s Parlour to get warm and renew old friendships and make new ones. Gifts were exchanged and all had a very enjoyable informal evening. Thanks to the support by our Mayor and council.
